To all the Patriots who are sitting on your comfortable cushions and propagating patriotism via cell phones, conducting a candle march during the end of a busy day for the martyrs, protesting and clamouring for a war to defend our country… JAI HIND!
The battle for peace is real, so do the battle of our heroes. We the citizen of this country, whose patriotism awakens only when war happens are in fact pushing our jawans to become the prey of war.
One of my friends once posted on FB that “ the prime minister told the army, the general told his men, the colonel briefed his officer, and the major ordered sergeants and sergeants told the troops, and the soldiers picked his weapons up, then jumped through all the hoops. when the war ended everyone praised the prime minister, the general expressed his thanks, the colonel awarded medals, and the major filled their ranks. the captain thanked the sergeants and said the men were brave, the sergeants arranged the funerals and the soldiers lined the grave”. This is how our system works. People screaming for war does not acknowledge this fact. War is not a social media debate or a TV room discussion by the politicians to channelize maximum votes for the next election. The soldiers are the real stakeholders in a country to country combat. Soldiers who guard this nation without even blinking their eyes leave their family unguarded. He is staying away from his family, pleasures and passions to ensure the security of this country by guarding the border under the scorching sun and chilling nights. The slacktivists who clamour for war have zero knowledge about the torments of a soldier at the border.
The sartorial and a rifle that they carry weighs more than 5 kg, boots are of 2kg and they are surviving in harsh climate and terrains beyond you can possibly imagine. Do you think he is doing all this for the country he loves? He is bearing all these difficulties for his aged parents, his children whom he meets once in a while, his wife whom he had spent less than a period that they can cherish. This is what we call perseverance, bravery and will power. I had often heard youngster complaining about their mess food. Do you know the quality of food our brave heroes are getting? the reward he secures for his sacrifice? Our freedom fighters even after independence have continued the struggle for“roti, kapda, makhan “ the basic needs of a human being. Let’s look at the condition of the basic necessities in the Indian defence camp.
A jawan who complained about the quality of food through an online platform was tortured. Did he violate any rule? Are such incidents decreasing the morale of the Indian army? introspection is required. Media is in the forefront to report the details of war, the surgical missions and commando operations etc. but ironically they don’t want to cover the quality of food they consume, the standards of things they use etc. Media delivers what the people need or for the gratification of the customer. So, those are the news what we are interested in.
The heroic stories of our martyrs will flood on the media when some devastating event occurs. However, the story will lose its steam and will peter out within a couple of days. Indian media which hate mundanity more than anything else will move to the next issue and the audience would also jump into the bandwagon
Remuneration is an important factor that attracts the unemployed youth to this job. An average soldier spent his complete youthful years in training and fulfilling orders of his seniors. His scars are praised, his mistakes are punished and his achievements are whispered. The training is hard and pain is real. He is expected to be disciplined, smart and brave. He is not supposed to complain, to express dissent or even think to disobey. In India, new suicide bombers will appear again. They will open their vests and blow themselves up along with the human beings in military sartorial. The story will be back to square one. The candles will again light up, TRP ratings of news channels would skyrocket and the clamour for war and retribution would hijack the social media platforms. The only change that can witness is the lives of the families of martyred soldiers.
